Photinia Red Robin 25lt (Standard Tree)
These Photinia Red Robin hedging plants are grown as single stem standard trees and come with a 6ft (180cm) clear stem with a head on top. They are all grown in 25lt pots so have plenty of root system in place for quick establishment. Being grown as trees rather than bushes, they are ideal for planting to provide screening above fence panels whilst allowing you to underplant with smaller shrubs. These standard Photinia Red Robin trees (Photinia x fraseri ‘Red Robin’) is a spectacular clone of the evergreen Photinia with glossy green leaves and bright red attractive young leaves.
These Standard Photinia Red Robin trees can be planted so that the foliage is almost touching or spaced further apart to allow them more space to develop bigger heads. They should be watered in regularly during the first year of planting, especially if planting during the warmer and drier summer months. We also recommend that they are secured in place after planting using a tree stake and tree tie which will stop it from blowing over until its roots have established in your garden.
These plants will grow well in full sunshine and also in partial shade making it very versatile to different situations.
We recommend trimming Photinia Red Robin hedging twice a year to keep it thick and vibrant. Once in the spring before a new flush of growth, and once in the autumn. Trimming twice a year will encourage thick new growth with its vibrant bright red coloured leaves.
