3ft bamboo canes for bare root plants 

Our 3ft (90cm) bamboo canes are a must for bare root native hedging plants when using spiral tree guards. Please note that spiral tree guards need to be purchased separately here.

If you are planting bare root native hedging plants, then it is vitally important to use tree guards to protect them against rabbits and small species of deer that will chew the bark off them otherwise. Young plants can be particularly susceptible to damage by pests such as rabbits and deer in the colder winter months when other food sources are scarce.

These spiral tree guards are a simple to use tree guard that doesn’t cost the earth. It works by simply wrapping the guard around the tree once it has been planted.

Ideally they should be used together with a bamboo cane that will help support the young plant in its early stages of growth.
